TEE DRAINAGE.
CoUNOTMOB Lipfitoh called attention, at tho last meeting of the Town Council, to the necessity of a plan Bhowing tho drainage system of tho Borough. It was mentioned that there was a working plan which tho Foreman of Works had prepared for his guidanco and information in the Municipal offices. Though this may be, it would be well if tho public had easy access to a general plan showing the whole of tho drainage system at a glance. There is a grow; ing feoling that tho system is vory defectivo though it is fully recognised that the Council has done its duty in tins respect aB far as funds would permit. If the Council wore to have a plan prepared showing what would have to bo done to mako tho sj stem coinplote, and also indicating defects, the yearly estimates could bo framed to havo a portion of tho work, however small, done each year ; when the citizens could look forward to have, at no remote date, a perfect system of drainage. The present Mayor has distinguished his term of offico by securing for the town a supply of pure water. Tho next might devote his attention to tho equally important matter of a perfect system of drainage.
