FOOTBALL.

The Palmerston match is not, after all, to wme off. The men find it impossible to get away bo early in the season. The College team goes to Wellington on Wednesday next, and plays St. Patrick's College on Thursday. Nelson College will probably send ateiun to Wanganui later in the season. ' We hear that Good, f -back for the College, will be unable to go with their team to Wellington. This will be a great loss, as Good has bean playing very well of late. The Gordons hare a stiong team to ■play the College with on Satnrday next. This is the Gordon^ first match of the season, and it is to be hoped they will be able to show a little moi'e combination than the Wanganui Club did against the College. The following teams will play for tTia Wanganui Club on the Recreation Ground at 3 p.m- on Saturday next : — Skeet, Hursthouse, McLean, Brown, Duxfield, Barns, Grogan, Goodson, Bapley, Innis- Jones, Bichmond, Darey, Thompson, Bradley, lieys, Swainson, Harold, Peake, and Andrews against Barns, Lomax, Hogg, Grey, Fookee, Deighton, Wicksteed, B]ai?7 Cameron, Turner, Peat, Sharpe, Wixey, Eanlrin, Towgood, Sewell, Porlong, Bullock, and Thompson.

We hear that Fitzgerald is going to give up football. It is rumored that Harry Laing is going to cast in his lot with tho Gordon Football Club.

Mr J. Carrol M.H.E. and Major Ropata arrived at Putild this morning.

A telegram has been received from Wellington stating thattheHonMrMitcholson, Native Minister, will arrive in Wanganuion ' Monday.

Everyone should be photographedj not necessarily for their own sake, but for the sake of parents, sisters, brothers, and relatives and friends generally. It is important that the photograph should be a good likeness, and that it should be permanent — that is, not likely to fade. It is moet desirable, therefore, to employ a photographer on ■whom reliance can be placed. We can, with confidence, recommend Mr Martin.of Wanganui. This gentleman exhibited photographs at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition in London, for which he received a medal and commemorative plate. Mr Martin also received the highest award for photographs at the Jubilee Exhibition. — [Advt.]
