Leather is quoted at from IOJd to lid; pig iron, 38s 9d; New Zealand fives, £105, Sydbbt, April 26.— Resolutions have been passed by the Chamber of Commerce, and the Eoyal Geographical Society, asking that the Imperial Government should accord Bevan some tangible recognition for advantages accruing to science and commerce, from his important explorations in Hew Guinea. In the House last evening the Treasurer stated that the centennial celebrations in January last cost £26,000. An exceedingly rich discovery of chlorides is reported at Broken Hill South, the block yielding a high per centage of silver.
