CENTRALISATION.

Wb can hardly oredit the rumour that a portion of the work executed at tho Eostown workshops is in futuro to bo dono at Wollington. If carriages woro manufactured here, wo might be able to understand the reason of tho change, but since only repairs, required on the long lino of railway, of which Wanganui is the centro, aro executed at Eastown, it is impossible to reconcile such a transfer with any rational theory of economy. Wellington is not tho centro of tho railway system, and to concentrate the shops in which ropair3 aro done at the "Empire City," would be centralisation in its worst sense. There has beon a mistake somowhorc, and we feel certain tho matter will be set right when it is brought to the notico of tho Hon. Mr Mitehelson, upon his arrival in Wanganui.
