Manhsrs|3tbbet, Wellington, , ' OK FRIDAY, JANUABY 13, 1888. At 1 o'clock p.m. T KENNEDY MACDONALD & CO. • are favored with instructions from the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company,* Limited, to sell by public •notion »a above, about 1 O fsAfl AORES of Grand Pas. L^AJ\)\f torall/AND, situated near the TOWNSHIP of OTAKI, being the Blocks Nos 3, 4, 6, 7, ft 8 of the Kaitawa Survey District, subdivided into over' 60 Sections, ranging in area from 66 acres to ■even hundred and forty-seven ' aores eaoh. A number of the smaller seotions are pure agricultural land, while the larger areas are patt agricultural and part pastoral. They are splendidly watered, and the timber npon them is mixed tawa, rimn, &o. On several of the seotioni will ba found magnificent totara ; the whole of the timber used in the Otaki Bridge, and the sleepers required for the railway, having been cat from portion of the bush. The land is flat and undnlatinp, nndulating and hilly, and some of the flats have very rich river deposits. The soil throughout ia classed by experts as exceedingly good, the only stony portions being those on which the totara is found, and the value of this timber for sawmill purposes mikes the land upon which it growl exceptionally valuable. All the seotions are reached by partly oleared roads, running from the railway stations at TeHoro and Hautere, about 44 miles from Wellington, the centre of the Blocks being about 2J miles from the railway stations, and thence in various directions throughout the Blocks, The aim of the Company being to sell th.ir lands to bona fide oconpiers, and no create traffio for their line, high prices are not looked for ; the Company, as a railway proprietary, recognising that a large and energetic body of settlers occupying higholasi land, pnrchaied at a low price, will be of more permanent value to them and the oommnnity than if they sold a limited area at high rates, This result ia already being aohieved, a large number of farmers, sawmilleri, and others being in actual occupation of the lands sold by the Company during the last eighteen months. Many hundreds of acres of bush are now down ready for burning; and not a few of the previous buyers have been offered handsome profits on their investments. In order to increase this satisfactory remit, the terms of sale Tare still fixed on a bull whioh will, we feel snre, be appreciated by all who desire to see the landi of the country speedily .settled.
