Sydn«t, January 11.— A girl aged seventeen recently reported to the police that on the 26th December, while proceeding home Along Cook's River Road slie wai set upon by a number of men who dragged her into an omnibus shed where she was criminally asstolted by seven of them. The polioe last night arrested five men on a oharge of committing the outrage. London, January 10.— In recent communications which hav«i passed between England, France, and Turkey regarding the settlement of the Egyptian question, the French and Ottoman Governments have been less persistent than formerly in their repreientationi with reference to British evacuation.
It it announced from Vienna that relations between Austria and Russia are now daily improving. Prince George Senohtenberg, an officer in the Russian Army, is now mentioned as a probable candidate for the throne of Bulgaria in the place of Prince Nicholas of Mongtelia.
