(PEU UMTKD PBIiSS ASSOCIATION,) Wellington, Deo. 1. The cricket match with the Australians oommenced at 2 30 p m , Furdall and Sal* mon facing Spofforth and Palmer. Salmon snioked a yorker for 4, and drove Spofforth high and hard to the boundary. Palmer sent in several yorkers, whioh both men played too late, but none were straight. Salmon continued to play freely, outting Pilmer several times in succession, till he found the break baok from the demon too much for him, 19—1—16.
