FORDELL AUTUMN SHOW.

President — A. Allison, fesq. Vice-President — 11. Sargeant, Esq. Secretary — Mr A. Burnett. Treasurer— Mr C. Budge. Committee — Rev. P. L. Cameron, Messrs J. Sarpeant, R. D. Campbell, J, Richardson, D. McCoy, R. Kincr, J. Prugeau, G. Grant, J. Lind&ay, W. McWilliam, G. Morse, and R. Thomas.

The Fordell Horticultural Pociety held ita Autumn Show in the Schoolroom yesterday. The display was more successful than the show held in town on Wednesday, but owing to the want of room, ample justice could not be done to the exhibits. The Committee had utilised space as much as possible, but the large number of visitors were seriously incommoded in their endeavors to examine the exhibits. Jn the vegetable class the entries were very good, and it would be difficult for one to find better samples in any part of the colony. In fruit the show was strong, the display being in this respect a marked contrast to the Wanganni Show, apples, pears, and plums were all well represented, and in rhubarb and tomatoes there were very good exhibits. The mulberries shown were of firat-c!ass qua'ifcy, both taste and appearance being good. In the jam, bread, and butter classes, very numerous were the entries received, and the judges had considerable difficulty in deciding the question in each case, having to call in two ladies to decide the jam awards. Too much praise cannot be awarded to Messrs A. Burnett and the Rev. P. L. Cameron for the energetic manner in which they carried out the arrangements. The judges were Messrs A. 3»d J. Laird and J. W. Baker. In consequence of the success attending the Society's efforts it is probable that a hall will be erected suitable for the shows and other purposes.
