March 8.
There is a heavy north-east gale with ram, and consequently the Auckland Kowing Association's regatta is postponed till Saturday next.
March 10.
An eight-roomed house in Franklyn Road was burned down last night. It was owned by G. Peter Smith, and occupied by G. McGee. The house was insured for £300 in the South British, and the furniture for £75 in the Norwich Union. The residence of Mr C. O. Montrose, editor of the Observer, adjoining, was much damaged.
