THE WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
-♦> (from our own correspondent.) Regular meetinsr of the Wairoa Highway Roard, held on Saturday, November 3. Present — Messrs lon (chairman), Aiken, Johnston, and Symes. — Treasurer's.balance : General fund, £127 8s 2d ; block 8. £95 14s 7d; block 9, Dr £13 10s 6d ; block 3, Dr £21 16s 4d ; block 4, Cr £4 17s 10d.— Report received from Foreman of Works.—Correspondence read from R. Garrett, Treasury, Surveyor-General, Otago Daily Times, Property Tax Commissioner, and W. Palmer. — Resolved, that receipt of Mr Palmer's letter be acknowledged. — Resolved, that the Foreman order fresh piles for the lower Kohi bridge. — Resolved, that notice be sent to , Messrs F. Symes, O. Symes, Walkington, and Newland to remove furze on the road abvtting on their properties. — Mr Lind waited on the Board re road to Richardson. — Resolved, that Mr Garrett be directed to run a trial Hue of the road to Richardson, via Sangster's trig station, the settlers ■ providing labor required.— Resolved, that tenders be called for ploughing and forming the Kohi and Karihaka roads by next meeting. — Mr Williamson and Mr Nicholson waited on the Board in reference to roads on Block 8. Resolved that Mr Garrett be instructed to run a trial line on Block 8 road, near Nicholson's, and that the Foreman of Works prepare an estimate of the cost of work required by next meeting. — Resolved that tenders be called for ploughing and levelling Hearn and Kennedy's road by next meeting, and that the Foreman of Works prepare specifications .for same.— Resolved that the Foreman of Works inspeot Nioholson's road, Whenuakura, by next
meeting, and the cause of damage to same. — Resolved that the Kohi Bridge be closed for traffic from date, pending repairs to same, and that public notice be given. — Mr John Milne waited on the Board re road to his property. — Resolved that the Foreman of Works get repairs done on Okotuku road near Mr Milne's property. — The following accounts were passed for payment : — G, S. Ross, £6 6d ; G. Ross, £5 ss ; W. Seaton, £5. — The Board then adjourned.
