i Novl, ; A man named Edward Smith, said to be a brother to Mrs John Williamson (whose husband was formerly Superintendent of Auckland), was brought in by train from Hawera to the hospital. He was taken there in a cab, and whilst the usual formal questions were being asked him preparatory to being put into a ward, his head fell forward and he expired. When arriving at the hospital he showed no signs that his death would be" so sudden. The Supreme Court opened to-day. The following i» the cause list : — Thomas Weir, arson and false pretences ; Murty Collins, maliciously shooting cattle ; Watiha and, Waiteha, shooting cattle with intent to steal the carcase ; John Paul, house-breaking and burglary ; Putua, receiving stolen goods ; Alexander Boswell, false pretences. Civil cases : Trustees of Halse's estate v. Kenny ; Chiistie v. Peacock. ■ John Eyrton, passenger by the ship Oxford, died in the hospital last evening from malignant typhoid fever.
