The detailed Estimates of expenditure were 'distributed last nicbti They exhibit very little change as compared with la«t year. The following are among the principal increases :— Legislative Council— Chairman of Committees, L 100; clerk, 1200 j assistant, Lsoj second assistant, L2&,iElouße of Representatives— Second clerk, assistant, LSO; Sergean tat- Arms, LSO j interpreters,L2s ; reader, LSO ; Record Clerk, LSO; expenses of members, 1455; library and mailmen, LIOO. Departmental— Valuation of Friendly' Societies (last year nil), LBOO j charitable institutions, L 20.000 Asylums— Medical witnesses, Ll5O. Government Houses, Wellington and Auckland, each LIOO. Ministerial residences and rent, LSO. Inspector of Prisons, LIOO, and travelling allowance, LIOO. Police, extra pay (Jong aarvice). L 3726. Refund to Titanic SieejOompany, L 1750; Secretary Govern* raent Insurance, LICO. It must be borne in mind that these sums represent simply the amounts by which it is proposed to increase last year's votes. There are numerous small increases of L 5 and LlO to cadets and local officers. Among, these may be mentioned L1& to Masterton and Carterton Postmasters'; third clerk R.M.
