MEETING OF CREDITORS.
A meeting of creditors in the estate of George F. Mansell, of Great'ord, was held in the Court House yesterday. There were present— Messrs D. C. Tennent (Chairman), Tbain and Co. (through Mr Laurie), S. C. Richards and Innes (Bank of Australasia). Mr Esam, the debtor's solicitor, and the debtor, wer? in attendance. — The Chairman intimated that the meeting was called to assent to a deed of assignment, dated May sth last, from the debtor to Mr James Solanders, of Kelson, merchant, for the benefit of his creditors. The following is the sworn statement of liabilities and assets :—Liabilities : £670 17s 2d, the chief creditors being Sclanders and Co., Nelson, £345 16s 5d ; Moeller and Co., Wellington, £66 11 0d ; MoArthur and Co., Auckland, £'J6 18s 2d ; Thain and Co., Wanganui, £20 17s 8d ; Henderson Bros., Marton, £11 7s 6d ; Banna tyne and Co., Wellington, £16 12s 5(1 ; ■with the Raugitikei Permanent Land, Building, and Investment Society (secured), £170. Assets : £873 15s Bd, as follows :— Stock, at cost price, £200 ; book debts, £IS7 13s 4d j P.N. in Bank for collection, £'21 12s 8d j Qash in b.nk, £10 16s 7d ; cash in hand, £10 ; horse, trap, and harness, £30 ; timber, £25 44 ; saddle and bridle, £3 10s ; shop and dwelling house at Greatford (mortgaged to the society), £360 ; leasehold section at Greatford, nil ; and furniture, £25. The following proofs of debt were handed in :— Henderson Bros. (D, C. Tennent, proxy), £11 7s 6d ; Bannatyne and Co. (0. C. Tennenr, proxy), £16 12s Td ; Sclanders and Co. (D. C. Tennent, proxy), £345 19s 9d ; Baker and Allison (C. G. Esam, proxy), 18s 9d ; Thain and Co. (J. B. Laurie, proxy), £20 17s 8d j and McMillan and Co. (Bank of Australasia, proxy), £26 18s 2d.— Mr Esam read over the deed of arrangement and the statement of assets and liabilities.— Some discussion ensued, Mr Tennent stating that nnder instructions from Messrs Sclanders and Co. he had called tenders for the premises and business, but no satisfactory ones were received. — Eventually the deed of assignment was agreed to. — It was also stated by Mr Tennent, on the suggestion of Mr Esam, that, as the debtor had acted so ■ well in the matter, doubtless when the estate was wound up some allowance would be made to him. — The meeting then adjourned.
