Race Handicap of 40 soys; distance; 2 miles; nomination, 1 soy; ' acceptance, 2 soys ; open to all horses \ owned for six months prior to time of entry by bona fide residents who have been living between the White Cliffs ' . and the Manawatu River for that time ; winner of Egmont Handicap to carry 51b extra. To start at 4 p.m. 9, Consolation Stakes Handicap, pf 20 eovs ; for all beaten horses ; 1 mile and 4 distance.; nomination, 1 soy; acceptance, 1 Boy. To start at 4.45 p.m. RULES. No entry will be received. for any races except upon this . condition-i-That a n dfe, putes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be finaL All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Hon Secretary, Hawera, entrance money enclosed, with the name, age at time of entry, pedigree, and, in case of handicaps; performances of the horse, name of the owner, and colors of the rider. Any jockey riding except in the colours entered will be fined 3 soys. When two or more horses start, the property of the same owner, a distinguishing colour must be worn* Any person neglecting or refusing' to comply with this rule shall pay a fin© of 2 soys to the race fund. All races to be run under the W.J.C. rules. Horses walking over will only receive half the stakes. — Qualification fee fornon-members, £1. No other nominations will be received, under any pretence whatever after the time specified for closing. ' Letters bearing the postmark of the date of entry, and telegrams of the same date, will be received. All persons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of the Scales one half -hour before starting. Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine of 5 soys to the race fund. The second horse to save his stakes in all races, except otherwise Btated. Nominations, Entries, and Acceptances. Nominations. — For the Handicap Hurdles, Flying Handicap, Egmont Handicap, and District Race Handicap will close at the Hon Secretary's office, Hawera, on 24th February, at 10 a.m. Weights to be declared on 2nd March. Acceptances and general entries will close on 6th March, at the Hon Secretary's office, Hawera, at 9 p.m. The attention of owners is directed to the fact that the club now possesses an excellent course, and that upwards of £1000 has been spent in improvements.
