DESTROYING THE NATURAL BEAUTIES OF TAUPO.
(per united press association.) Taupo, March 22. Emboldened apparently by the late unsuccessful attempts of Mr Lofley to sheet home a charge of vanda'ism against the A.C. stationed here, some parties this last week have been destroying a small geyser near the Waikato river, which, if it had been left alone would have, in the course of time, become an object of interest to sightseers and others this season. Even the tencesat Rotomahana have witnessed the mis< :, ; eyous efforts of the destroyer of the graud and beautiful works of nature. People interested (Natives and Europeans) in the hot lake district in keeping the geysers intact, think it is high time that a severe example was made of some of these vandals. That would deter others from going and doing likewise. Taupo has lately been crowded with sightseers from all parts of the globe. Mr Levin, M.H.R., left this morning for Napier. '
