THE CIRCUS.

The Royal Australian Circus which opened on the reclaimed ground last night, drew/a large number of spectators to witness what was on the whole a very good performance. Signor Bartolo waß exceedingly clever in his contortion acts, which form a very prominent feature of the entertainment. Max Rinkle, the clown, is a relief from the stale jest which is so often served up in similar characters with neither advantage nor profit, and his interpolations are certainly to a great extent original, and of a highly amusing character. The trick horse, Snowflake, does its past very fairly but its tricks are not quite perfection. The horizontal bar athlete goes through some very difficult exercises, and his extraordinary agility meets with much appreciation from the audience. Tae tricK pony, Sultan, is very amusing, and has been well trained for its work. In Mr C. Harris the circus possesses a good clown, who also leaves to some extent the old groove for something new and more inviting. The ground and lofty tumbling company embraces 16 members, who perform their part very creditably, and go through a variety of motions in excellent style. In the treble trapeze there is a fine display of skill, only excelled by the wonderful wire-walker, who otherwise rejoices in the name of a "funambulist." To-night, Dick Turpin will bo produced in good style on what is described as " the best trained mare in the world." The circus will open here to-morrow night for the last time.
