There was some trouble yesterday in getting the immigrants per Taranaki to the barracks, many of them being drunk and fighting. General scrimmages took place, in which the Barrack Master and Sergt Bally received some hard knocks. One of tbe most conspicuous of tbe combatants was this morning sentenced to one month's imprisonment for his riotous conduct.

Robt. C. Grant, purser of the Taupo, died early this morning. He went yes* terday to Onehunga to dine with the officers, and took ill after tea in the evening. On the, jury assembling this morning the following memo from defendant's solicitor was read : — The defendant admits that his pleas were based on erroneous information and withdraws the sa.ine, and consents to the same being struck out, and judgment was entered for the plaintiff for amount without costs. A party of young men out yachting in £the bay yesterday were about to plunge into the water, when they saw a sixte en-feet shark and four smaller ones eagerly watching for them. Valley's services, are drawing big houses. Men are stationed in the streets distributing his hnnd-bills, and Green has boys watching his meetings and serving out invitations to the crowds that assemble, asking them to attend Green's discourse.
