TRICKETT DEFEATED.
ENGLISH ELEVEN V. N.S.W. FIFTEEN,
Sydney, Jan 27. For the Champion Yacht Race, only the Maggie and the Waitangi (an Auckland yacht) started. The Maggie led to the finish. Later. In the Champion Scullers Race, after the start, and while Laycock was leading, Trickett was slightly fouled by a passing boat. Lavcock won easily. He stopped and waved his hat near the finish. In the match English Eleven v N.S. W. Fifteen, Absolom made 12, Hornby 20, Lucas 16* 4 wickets for 106. The Maggie steadily increased the, lead, beating the Waitangi by twelve minutes. Trickett has challenged Laycock for £200 and the championship. Flour sold at Adelaide for £10 7s 6d.
