At tlio inquest on the bodies of William Hawkins and John McG.Mcrn, drowned in the Ilumahinga river, the evidence showed that deceased and a man named Dougherty had dinner at Maidville and five drinks each. When they started for Masterton MeGovcrn was drunk. At the river Dougherty, ftlcGovet 1 "., and Hawkins went in to ford it together, McG-ovcrn was between, the other two. When in the river Me-j Govern was felt to be dragging the others; with him. Dougherty was palled out; senseless. The two others were drowned. The inquest not concluded.
