WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Eegular monthly meeting held at the Albany Chambers on Thursday. Present : — Cr3 Sommerville (Chairman) Kennedy, Walker, Higgie, Gabb, Handley, and Heslop. The minutea of the previous meetings were read and confirmed. Foreman of Works' report read and adopted. GORSE. Moved by Cr Higgie, and seconded by Cr Handley — That the Clerk be instructed to write to the occupiers of property facing the Great North Western Road, requiring them to clear away allfgorae, or other fencing material now overhanging the road. WANGAEHU BOARD. Resolved — That the Chairman be instructed to make enquiries of the Government with regard to the payment of certain monies paid to the Wangaehu Highway Board iv connection with the Kaitoke toll, and to ask for ah explanation of such payment. MR PEASE'S CLAIM. Resolved — That the sum of £15 12s lOd be paid to Mr Peake as compensation for gravel. COUNTY COUNCIL CONFERENCE. On the motion of Cr Kennedy, it was resolved — That this Council approves of the proposed Conference, and that the delegates to represent it be appointed at the next meeting. TRAVELLING EXPENSES. Eesolved — That the travelling expenses of the Chairman and Councillor Morgan, in attending the meeting of the Council on the 27th January, be paid. UPOKONGARO FERRY. Resolved — That fresh tenders be called for the Upokongaro Ferry service for a period of twelve months, to commence on the 4th July ; Crs Sommerville, Higgie, Heslop, Walker be a committee to open tenders on the 20th inst. The Foreman of Works was instructed to get winch and new wire put up on the Ferry as soon aa practicable. ACCOUNTS. Bunting, £52 18s 6d ; same, £2 18s 4d ; Jackson and Colleary, £45 ; Nuknmaru natives, £9 11s 8d ; Willis, £6 7s 9d ; J. Peapell, £6 12s ; R. Slatttsry, £1 12s ; Drummond, Alexander, and Peat, £28 12s 6d 5 Maintenance men (8), £70 7s ; Vincent, £150. The Council then adjourned.
