At the sale on Wednesday, 163 head of cattle were yarded, and 153 were sold. 350 sheep were penned, and 330 were sold. The heavy rain which lasted nearly all day was greatly against tho sale, but upon the whole fair prices were obtained : out of 36 head of first and second class beef only one was w ithdrawn. The bidding being quite up to the Auckland values, none of them left for that market. The young bulls can scarcely be said to have been offered, on the account of stormy weather, and are still for sale. Prices given for dairy cows, £5 to £8 10s : grown steei*s, in fresh condition, £5 to £0 17s 6d : 3-year-olds £<t to £5 10s : 2-year-olds, £3 to £3 15 ; yearlings and calves, £1 to £2 16s : dry cows £110s to £4, ss:. 2-year-old heifers, £2 to £3 10s : fat wethers, 16s 6d ; store wethers, lls to 14s, 6d : inferior aged ewes, 4s to 8s : good two and four-tooth ewes, from 16s to 275. '
