NOTICE TO SHIPMASTERS. i ON and after the 11th day of March, 1871, the turntable of the Wanganui Bridge being now completed, and in working order, shipmasters are informed that the turntable will remain closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and should they wish to pass through the bridge either up or down the river, they must anchor their vessels within a convenient distance, and give notice to the man in charge of the Bridge of their intention to do so. They must either warp or drop their vessels through the opening as may be deemed proper. And all vessels must have their yards either topped up or braced by in such manner as will effectually prevent all accidents. All boats having on davits shall be swung on board or otherwise disposed of. Any damage that may be caused to the bridge by shipmasters not adhereing strictly to the above regulations, they will be held responsible for such damage. TENDERS will be received at the Post Office, Wanganui, until noon of FRIDAY, the 17th inst., for Metalling 1 mile 34 chains 80 links of road at Pakaraka, known as No. 5 Contract. Also, Forming 32 chains and metalling 1 mile 20 chains at Waitotara near Messrs Hunter and Williamson's. Tenders are required to deposit along with each tender 10% on amount of tender, which will be forfeited should the tenderer fail to take up his contract when called upon. The 10% will be returned on execution of a bond by successful tenderer. Bond to be for full amount of contract. Contractor and two approved sureties. Specifications to be seen at the Engineer's office, Taupo Quay. Tenders to be addressed to the undersigned and marked "Tender for Metalling." WILLIAM H. HALES, Engineer. March 11, 1871. Public Works Office, Wellington, 9th March, 1871. TENDERS are called for, for the formation of a road at the Gorge of the river Manawatu. The work consists of side cutting for several miles in earth and in rock. Description can be seen at Wellington at the Public Works Office. At Foxton, Manawatu, at Mr Grey's Store. At Palmcrston, Manawatu, at the Accommodation House. At Wanganui, at Mr Hales' Office. At Napier, at the office of the General Government agent. At all of which places forms of tender can be obtained. Tenders to be addressed "To the Honorable the Minister for Public Works, Wellington," endorsed "Tender for Work at Manawatu Gorge," and sent in on or before noon on the 31st March, 1871. Mr Stewart, the District Engineer, or the Local Road Overseer, will be in the locality from the 14th to the 21st March, to give information to intended tenderers. G. S. COOPER, Undcr-Secretary. Specifications to be seen at the Survey Office, Patea, or the Engineers Office, Wanganui. Tenders to be marked "Tender for Metalling," and addressed— O. CARRINGTON, ESQ., Patea. March 9, 1871.
