_ Some genius has conceived the brilliant idea of pressing all the lawyers into military service in case of war because their charges are so great that no one could stand them. It is estimated that there are 140,000.000 Eoman Catholics, 6,300 000 Greek Catholics, 70,000,000ProfcesLants and 40,000 Jews in Europe. It was stated at a railway meeting held in London the other day, that the ex-Emperor had accepted plans prepared by Mr Pell, the well-known railway engineer, for the construction of a railway in rear of the French army on its road to Berlin. The line was to be made at the rate of four or five miles a day.
