!9, 1856. The war between the jVestern powers and Russia lasted two fears lacking »ne month. | The Italian war of 1859 was begun >y the rejection of the Austrian ultimatum by Sardinia, April 25th. The j.ustrians crossed the Ticino April pth. The French entered Genoa jlay 3rd; the battle of Montebello Iras fought May 20th; battle of Majenta, May 30th, 31st; and the battle »f Solferino, June 24th. The peace of Pilla Franca was signed July 11th. ffostilities were active but ten weeks. The Schleswig - Holstein war of 1864 began by the invasion of Schlesirig by the Prussians February Ist Che Prussians took Duppel April 18th, and Alsen July 9th. Treaty of jeace between Denmark and Germany ifas signed at Vienna October 3rd. ictual hostilities covered a space of twenty-two weeks.
