(From the " Grey Eiver Argus.") Wellington, August 12. The Colonial Treasurer announced last night that the Governmeut in tended to bring in a Bill to annex the Grey District to Nelson. Westland is to have a nominated Chairman for three years. An extra special allowance of £3OOO has been granted to Westland. Mr Kynnersley has given notice of a motion in favor of completing the West Coast Marino Survey. Chrtstchurcii, August 12. An open air meeting was held here this afternoon of the unemployed. Two hundred were present, including many spectators. A resolution was
carried" to the effect that this meeting regrets the large number of competent workmen unemployed in the Province who cannot get away. 2nd. It is expedient they should write, bringing those facts before the General and Provincial Governments and to urge upon the electors, &e., the absolute necessity of taking immediate steps to supply works, or otherwise, pi- vious to increasing the existing distress by future importations of labor. 3rd. That a Committee be appointed to carry out the resolutions.

Another large failure has taken place, namely, Kirkpatrick and Co., drapers, Princes-street. Their liabilities are nearly £15,000: assets, about £SOOO.
DUNEDIN, Aug. 15
A man named Rennie, of Arrowtown, is in custody, having confessed to the gold robbery at Clyde. The gold and notes are reported to be safe.
The Deputy-Superintendent has received a telegram from certain residents in Queeiistown, stating that the thieves were in custody, and claiming the rewards.
1.20 p.m. Bennie, after confession, took the police to the place where the treasure was planted. All of it was recovered excepting about six hundred pounds in notes, which were lost by the thief. A policeman stationed at Clyde is suspected of being implicated. The treasure was secreted in four different places, extending over a distance of 40 miles. Wellington, Aug. 15. It is rumored here that Mr Maeandrew, Superintendent of Oiago, is trying to negotiate the annexation to Otago of that portion of the County of Westlaud south of the Eiver Teremakau.
