COMMERCIAL.

Hokitika, June 6. —The West Coast Times reports as follows : The import market keeps steady. A parcel of oats, ex Rifleman, c anged hands under the hammer at 3s lOd ; but subsequently a considerable lot was disposed of privately at 3s 9d. Flour (Adelaide) is scarce, and a slight advance on £lB 10s is spoken of. Melbourne chaff is firmer, £l4 being now the price asked, and the general feeling is that the articles will rule higher, unless heavy shipments arrive at an early date. Potatoes are coming into demand, owing in a great measure to the stocks of Coast grown being nearly consumed. We now quote good quality at 4'5. Onions are worth 3d per lb., and stocks are ample. Prime butter is worth Is ; and for cheese there is a full market. Bacon and hams.—Demand moderate, from lOd to Is per lb. Kerosene, 4s id to 4s 6d.
