The steamship Kennedy arrived here from southern ports on Monday evening, and left for Nelson the • sariio tide. She reached the latter port on Tuesday evening. The s.s. Murray left Nelson for Motueka and Westport on Tuesday. ■ She was to leave Motueka yesterday evening, and will arrive at Westport this morning. H.M.S.S. Challenger is understood to have orders to leave Sydney for England in August. H.M.S.S. Blanche reached Brisbane on the 18 ult.,.from Torres Straits, and reports having been unable to discover Mrs Gascoigne, wife of Captain Gascoigne, of the Sperwer, who, with his crew, was murdered by the natives some months ago. The natives say that she and her boy ( died threo months since. Before completing the search the Blanche got on a cora! reef during a fog, and had to throw a quantity of shot, coals, and other stores overboard before floating off. She was to leave Bii'bane for Sydney, to go into the dock for an overhaul.
