EXISTING- CONTRACT FOR RIVER PROTECTIVE WORKS CANCELLED. (BT ELEOTBIO TELEGRAPH.) (from our own correspondent.) Nelson, Friday. Amended Executive Ordinance, making members responsible to the Council, and giving the Goldfields representation in the Executive, was read the first time last uight. Numerous improvements are : to be proposed on its second reading. Eaton and Winter's contract for river works cancelled.
