The schooner Maid of Erin arrived in the roadstead on Saturday, and was tendered by the Wallabi on Tuesday. The muster reports having left I'orc Phillip Deads on March 14th, and in Bass' Straits experienced moderate weather with wind E.S.K. to E.N.E.; passed the Sisters on the 19th, and encountered very heavy head sea, with light easterly winds to the 21st, when he met with a heavy gale from E.S.E., with terrific squalls and tremendous sea running. The gale lasted 36 hours, during which time ho could only show a close reefed mainsail. Had thick, foggy, but moderate weather from E.S.E. to the 24th, when he encountered another heavy gale from E.NVE., with thick weather and rain, which lastvd 28 hours. On the 25th he encountered a gale from south to S.S.E., which lasted till the 28th. Took no observations in consequence of the thick weather from the 19th to the 28th. Had light S.E. winds to April Ist, and v.lion about 20 miles from the Steeples stood off with a severe galo from the S.W. during which she split her topsail. Weather moderating, ran in and anchored on Saturday, April 2nd. The officer who will accompany the English mails as far as New York, is Mr Gray, Inspector of Post Offices. Ho will make arrangements for the conveyance of future mails from Honolulu to England. 11.M.5. Blanche has been ordered to Prince of Wales [sland for the purpose of investigating the Spurway massacre, and to ascertain the truth or otherwise of tho report that the captain's wife is still on the Islands with the blacks.
