Our Nelson correspondent telegraphed last night:—'• Great rush for shares in Culliford's Company, Wangapeka reef, because of the report of the rich produce of a sample crushed in Auckland." We regret to learn that a very serious landslip happened at the Back Lead, Charleston, en Friday last. The Cosmopolitan. Maori Chief, and the Nile Company are more or less sufferers. We are glad to learn, however, that steps are being taken to repair the damage, and that within a short time these energetic companies will be again in full working order. On Saturdav afternoon the large dam of the " Who'd have thought it" Company, at Charleston, burst. The continued downpour of rain so filled the dam that the embankment gave way to such an extent as to flood the channel leading across the Darkie's Terrace road, carry in _' away the bridge near the church, and doing serious damage to several workings. Until the bridge is replaced, considerable inconvenience will bo experienced by all whose vocations necessitate the use of this road. Mr Cotterell is to give a fresh, and, we have no doubt, a refreshing entertainment, tins evening, at the Maaonie Hall. It must be unnece-sary to bespeak a good attendance.
