COMMERCIAL.
Westi'okt Times Office, Friday Evening. Since our last report there lias been little animation in business. Tbo trade doing being confined to tbc daily supply of the surrounding diggings. Tbe arrival of the Nightingale, from Melbourne, with a large general erruo has equalised prices in several leading lines which were getting short. Adelaide Hour is firm at last quotations, and as the supply to hand is not large, we do not anticipate any alteration. Oats are scarce, and retailing at from 5s to as Gd. A small lot, ex Jane Elkin, as already reported, fetched 4s 7£d at auction. Potatoes —The market is over-stocked and prices are nominal. The supply .of kerosene to hand per Nightingale has eased the price of this article, and may now be quoted at from 3s 6d to 3s 9d. In ■Wines and spirits wo have little alteration to note. Colonial wine is now more in demand than port and sherry. "We quote the former tirmat SOs to 35s per dozen. Sugars have declined about 40s per ton all round, and recent advices from Melbourne report a still further decline. We note a slight advance in currants and raisins—the former may now be quoted at Gd the latter at 7d, for new fruit. In oilmen's stores generally we have no alteration to report.
