AEKIVAL OF THE ALLIANCE, 190 DAYS OCT. When hope was almost dead, and people had all but given the ship up for lost, the Alliance, from Liverpool, after a passage of l'Ju days, and many vieissil udes, made her appearance at. Nelson on Friday last. The Alliance sailed from Liverpool on 27th November last, but had to put back three days after, having had very bad weather off Holyhead. She reached Liverpool on 3rd December, and sailed thence again on the 9th, meeting very heavy weather in the channel, and in that generally rough quarter, the Pay of Biscay. In fact, she had to face a series of disasters. When in the Bay of Biscay, the wheel chains and relief tackles were carried away in a storm, and the stern post was sprung. On 30th January the ship, which had a great quantity of dead weight in her, had to be lightened by throwing overboard a quantity of cargo, and after having much rough weather in her crippled condition, she made for Rio de Janiero, for repairs, and that port she reached on 22nd February, whence, after undergoing the requisite refitting, she sailed on tho 15th March. But she subsequently experienced a large amount of bad weather, which continued off and on throughout the whole of April. On 4th May she encountered a regular hurricane, which lasted three days, during which the vessel so labored that again it was necessary to throw cargo overboard to save tho ship from foundering. Prom that time the weather improved, with occasional adverse days, until she arrived safely off New Zealand, and made our port as above. The Alliance is the first of a proposed lino of vessels which it was resolved to place on the passage between Liverpool and Nelson ; and is consigned to Mr Joh-i M'lntosh, merchant, Nelson.— Colonist, J une 1.0.
