The Westport Times. TUESDAY, JUNE 15, 1869.

The members of the Thistle Lodge of Freemasons have made arrangements for a very extensive celebration of Sfc John's Day, the 21th of this month. They purpose having a dinner at the Post-office Hotel, and at a later hour iu the evening a ball at the Masonic Hall, Empire Hotel. For the arrangement of details in connection -with both events committees have been appointed, and they will, no doubt, exert themselves to make both the dinner and the ball a success. The moral of the fire at Greymouth has already presented itself to the inhabitants of "Westport. A meeting " to consider the advisability of forming a Volunteer Fire Brigade " is appointed by Mr Tyler,

as Chairman of the Progress Committee, to be held on Wednesday evening at the Masonic Hall. Our correspondent "W" will, equally with us, be gratified tbat the suggestion of a public meeting has so soon been favorably considered. Exclusive of the above there have been over 170 declarations of insolvency, in which no further proceedings were taken. Of the 231 adjudications the estimated aggregate value is <£2 46,074, being an average per adjudication of .£837. The returns show the highest value of property involved in any adjudication during the year was £70,900. There were 22 at judications included among the above in which the funds, as in bankrupt's statement, were nil, and 53 in which the assets were under £SO.

The latest accounts from Patea state that Tiloko Waru and about 300 followers are occupying his old place ox Ngutu-o-tc-Manu. He has been deserted by some of his late allies, who are said to wish to make their peace with the Government. Two expeditions have lately been made up the Patea river by parties under the command of Mr Booth, E.M. They discovered some beautiful timbered country.
