DEPABTVEES. March 20 —Beautiful Star, s.s., for Dunedin, via Wanganui and intermediate ports. Brace, p.s., for Greymouth and Hokitika. March 22—Charles Edward, p.s., for Nelson. PASBENGEE LIST. Per Beautiful Star, for Wanganui, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin—Miss Barnei, Mrs Greening and family (5), Mrs Why te and family (2) ; 6 in the steerage. Per Charles Edward, from Hokitika and Greymouth—Mr and Mrs Harris, Miss Cheeseman, Miss Murray, Dr Carr, Messrs Leslie, Tyler, Samuel, Roberts, Kathbone, Jones, "Small, Wilkins, and 2 for Nelson; 5 in the steerage for Nelson. The e.s. Beautiful Star sailed on Saturday afternoon for Wanganui, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Danedin. By telegram we leam that she haß first put into Nelson. The b.s. Wallabi, which has been for some time on the slip at Nelson, receiving an overhaul, sailed from that port for Wanganui last week, and may he expected here to-mor-row. The p.s. Charles Edward arrived in port yesterday morning from Hokitika and the Grey, ft was with great difficulty the Hokitika bar was worked, but the Charles Edward got in and out without accident. The schooDer Dart, from Eaiapoi bound for Wellington, and laden with whoat, sailed ten days ago, and has not since been heard of. It is supposed that she is wrecked. It is well for persons going on board steamers to remember the following clause in the Haihor Regulations:—"No waterman or oth« r person in charge of any boat, steamer, or lighter, shall go alongside or otherwise communicate with, and no person shall go on board ofany vessel arriving in port except officers on duty, or persons holding a written authority, until such vessel has been moored, and has been cleared by the Health Officer, and any person offending against this regulation shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding ten pounds." The official enquiry into the loss of the Ida Ziegler is closed. Error in judgment is ascribt dto the Harbor Master, in mooring the ship in too shallow water, and in shackling both cables to the moorings ; and for neglect in not examining the buoys and moorings before the wool season. It is also considered that the ship's cable was too short, and that the state of the starboard cable was not satisfactory. The patent slip dispute between Kennard Brothers and tho Wellington Provincial Government is not yet finally settled, and is like to again eome before the Supreme Court in the shape of an action by Messrs Kennard's representative against the Government for breach of agreement.
