THE NATIVE WAR.
LATEST PROM THE FRONT
(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.) (FBOM OUR CORBESPONDENT.) Wellington, Friday. Government telegrams which were received from Napier yesterday state that it was reported that thirty HauHau prisoners had been brought to Mohaka by Toku, the pilot, and his people. Sullivan, a half-caste in the Defence Force, and who has returned from Taupo, states that Rewi intends to join Te Kooti with seven hundred men. Matutaera talked about attacking Tito Kowaru. The Government Natives are willing to fight, but they are too few in number. An attack on the district by way oi the Ngaruroro gorge had been decided upon.
Sympathy was felt by the Taupo tribes for the prisoners. Haia Te Waru, who had returned from the Uriwera country, reports having seen Te Kooti and Nikora. Te Kooti had not been wounded, and had lost very few men. The TJriweras, it is said, are not likely to join Te Kooti at present.
