THE REVENUE OF WESTPORT.

{To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sib, —Will some of your readers be kind enough to give me a little information in figures, as to what amount the West Coast Gold Fields contribute to the Nelson revenue ? I have certain and most important reasons for asking this favour, and at the same time I do not doubt it will open the eyes of tho public to so greatan extent that they will no longer remain asleep, as they appear to be, to their own interests. Is it true that our last quarter's revenue exceeded that of Nelson by £3IOO, and what are they giving us in return ? Nothing; and this excess alone in less than twelve months would pay off the deficiency of the General Government which is stopping all public works in the Province.—l am, Sir, Tours, &c. J. W. G. Beauchamp. Jan. 11.
