LATEST FROM NAFIES AND WANGANUI. SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS ON THE HAU-HAUS. (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.) (FROM OTTR OWJS" correspondent.) "Wellington, Sunday. The latest items of news received from Napier is that a party of Friendly Natives had set out from Wairoa, and had penetrated the enemy's country as far as Opotiki. Tliey captured and took prisoners eight men, twelve women, and eight children, and seized eight canoes. A meeting of settlers has heen held at Porangahau, situated to the southward of Napier, at which alarm for the safety of the settlement was expressed, and resolutions passed in iavor of the Government being asked to erect block-houses. From AVanganui news has heen received of a successful raid into the Hau-Hau country. A party of Volunteers under Colonel Finnimoro made an excursion into the interior, and they destroyed five villages and one war pah. They also destroyed a large extent of the Native crops, killed two Haullaus, and recovered 250 sheep belonging to the Patca settlers.
