MORE MURDERS BY THE NATIVES.
(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.) (FItOII OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, Tuesday. The Post has published an extra edition to-day, announcing the coin--mittal of three murders by the HauHausat Patutahi. The men murdered were Mr Ferguson and two others whose names are not yet known.
Mr Ferguson and the other two left Turanga on Saturday, for the purpose of repairing some sheep pens on the Big Eiver situated about five miles below Patutahi.
They proceeded by way of the Pipiwaka bush, and did not return. A party of Natives under Henare Maukai went in search of the missing men on Sunday morning, and they fell in with a party of Hau-Haus. The messenger who has arrived reports that the two parties were fighting when he left.
He had found that bodies of the Armed Constabulary had been despatched to Patutahi, but they had seen nothing of the enemy. The Hau-Haus are supposed to have descended to the flat by an unknown track.
