WESTPORT. HIGH WA.TEII. This Day... 9.35 a.m., 10 0 p.m. IMPORTS. Per Crest of the Wave, from Dunedin—--500 bags of oats, 92 bales of chaff, order.

The schooner Crest of the "Wave, Captain Black, cleared Otago Heads on the 22nd ult., with a smart breeze from S.W. Gn the 23rd she -was oil' Banks Peninsula, with a strong wind from N.N.E., and a heavy cross sea. On the 25th she got the wind, from S.W., and went through the Straits in company with the brig Hose of Australia, which had left Port Chalmers on the same day. On the 26th she fell in with a fleet off Cape Farewell, and spoke the Mary Van Every, which had left for Hokitika a week before her. Subsequently she experienced a terrific gale from the west-ward, and a very high sea. f Shii got down as far as Eocks Point twice, hut was driven back by the storm, unable to carry canvas against it. On the 30th she bore up for Blind Bay for shelter, and on the 3rd got under way, the wind still blowing* hard from the west. On the sth she had a strong breeze from the north, and arrived off Westport on the same day. A very heavy storm setting in from W.N. YV. f with thunder, lightning, and strong squalls, she had the utmost difficulty in getting to an offing, as she required to do, it being night-time and being unable to take the bar. This- lasted to the 10th, when she had a change from S W., and ran for the roadstead, where she anchored on the same day. On the 11th she sailed into the river. In Blind Bay, the Crest of the Wave spoke the barque Summer Cloud, which had loft Dunedin about a fortnight before, and had attempted the passage by Cook Straits, after being buffeted about for some time in the neighborhood of the Snares. The steamer Murray, it will be seen, arrived yesterday at Nelson, whither she had proceeded direct from Grreymouth, without call ing at Westport. On Saturday, the Kennedy arrived from Westport, and the Charles Edward had returned from Wanganui, on her way south.

The steamer Wanganui, from Wellington and Wanganui, is now hourly expected to arrive at Westport.
