On the passage of the John Penn to Nelson, the schooner Amatcur, hound for Newcastle, with timber and passengers, was found stranded on Farewell Spit, about a mile and a half to the eastward of the proposed site •of a light-house. The passengers were taken on board the John Penn. The crew re.mained, and the Lady Earkly was despatched ' to render assistance.
