WRECK OF THE SCHOONER FANCY.
LOSS OF FOUR LIVES
From Captain Scott, oT the steamer Lyttelton, we learn of the wreck of the schooner Fancy, a trader wellknown upon this coast, aud of the loss of the lives of all on board, excepting one man. The particulars —and they are only a very few —-were obtained by Captain Scott from the crew of a cutter named the Charlotte. While in Croixelles Harbor at mid-day on Friday, he found there the Charlotte, which was then thirty-six days out from Lyttelton, hound for one of the West Coast ports; and the master reported that the Fancy had been wrecked at Dreville Harbor, D'Urville Island. Her wreck was total, and four of the hauds were drowned. The fifth had got ashore " all cut to pieces"— that is to say, very seriously injured by his exposure on the wreck, and by contact with the rocks. He had been found by the crew of the Jane Anderson, aud is now on board of that vessel. Since the above was written, and in type, we have received files which had been brought from Hokitika by the steamer Waipara, and from these we' learn that the Jane Anderson had arrived there with the survivor of the wreck on hoard. His name is Michael Walters. He was six days without food, and with only his shirt on. The vessel had been driven into a thousand pieces.
