PROGRESS COMMITTEE STATISTICS.

(To the Editor of the Westport Times and Charleston Argus). Sic, —In your leader of this morning's issue you state —" One of the members of the Committee enquired if any- record of the expenditure had been kept, but none could be produced." I cannot help thinking that you are misinformed, as no such enquiry was made of me. Yours obediently, EitAjrcis Harris. Westport, 28th October, 1868. [Mr Humphrey, who brought up the report, was unable to produce the hitter statement, but he did not say that he had even applied for it, so no possible imputation could rest on Mr Harris' courresy.—Ed. W.T.']
