The p.s., Charles Edward left Wanganui on Tuesday morning, after having been live days loaded,"and waiting for the weather to moderate. She encountered a heavy north-wester crossing the Straits, and put in on that evening to Port: Hardy, where she remained till two o'clock on 'Wednesday afternoon, and then put into Nelson to coal, when a heavy gale set in from the s -nth-west. Left Nelson on Thursday, wind blowing heavy from the north west, put into Totoranui where she met the Kennedy, and remained there till Saturday morning, and left in company with ths Kennedy when the latter vessel put hack, but Captain Palmer proceeded, and came to anchor at Bushend Point at nine a.m., got under weigh at eight p.m., and arrived at Stanley Wharf yesterday at one o'clock p.m. Daring the whole of her passage she experienced very bad weather, the wind shifting to different quarters frequently, and at the same time raging with all the fierceness of a gale ; notwithstanding this, Captain Palmer did not lose a spar or rope, and brought all the cattle and sheep in fine condition to this port. She brought ten saloon and twenty-sis steerage yassengers. When the Charles Edward left Wanganui, the s.s., John Penu was in the port with a cargo of cattle on. hoard for Manukau.

The schooner, Storm Bird, has put into Port Hardy with all her sails blown away, and in a crippled state. The 5.8., Beautiful Star, is laid on to trade between, Napier and Auckland. The s.s., Wariganui, was in Wanganui when the Charles Edward left.

Tho Brigantinc, Mary, from Melbourne arrived in the roadstead on Saturday with s general cargo. Messrs Spence Bros, and Co. are the agents.
