The Californian shipments have checked the flour trade. Trade parcels move slowly at £ls 10s. to £l6 10s. per ton. The consignees of the Salamander intend transmitting her cargo to Eastern ports.
Maize has touched 4s. Malting barley is at 6s. 9d. Half-chests of new tea fetch Is. 9d. Bottled stout is in demand. Aromatic tobacco, half-pounds, Is. l|d. Barret's twist was offered at auction, but was withdrawn for a higher offer. Foreign heavy-weight candles brought at auction lOd. to 10i; woolpacks, 3s. 7|d. ; salad oil (pints), 10s. 9d. ; Hennessy's pale brandy, 7s.

Mr Young's tender of £32,000 for the Catholic Cathedral has been accepted. Sales of Bourbon sugar have taken place at £25 15s to £34 2s. A large prize has been offered to be competed for at the rifle match in November.
