POST OFFICE SAVINGS' BANKS
Tlie New Zealand Gazette, of March 25th, publishes the following regulations for the banks as above newly established ix t Christehureh, Lytti'ltnu, Iviiapoi, Tiinaru, Akaroa, Uokitika, Givymouth, Waimate, Wesfpbrt. and Charleston. 1. Interest at he rate of 5 per cent, per annum is given on »ams lyss than £2OO ; at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on suing over £SOO ; and in the same propoution for any shorter time on every complete £1 deposited, provided that no interest be allowed on more than £SOO. 2. Depositors in the Post Office Savings Banks have direct Government Security foi 'the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in any one of the Post Office Banks can continue his deposits at any other of such Hanks, and can withdraw his money at that Post Office Bank which is most convenient to him. 4. The strictest seeresy is observed witl respect to the names of depositors in I'os » ifhce Banks, and the amounts of their dc possits. 6. Money may be deposited by or on be halt* of minors. Depositors over"seven years of age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits until they have reached the age of seven. 7. Applications to the Chief Office in each Province on fie business of Post office Savings Hanks, ind the replies sent thereto arc five iron charge or postage.
