GERMAN TERBACE.
Homer and party are constructing a dam to save the surface water of the flat, and will be ready to commence washing in a few days. Langrish and party are testing the rest of their ground on the nortb side of the Terrace.
Stewart aud party are putting in a tunnel, which is to be 500 feet in length above that of Homer and party. Holm and party are crushing their tailings, and have had considerable expense and labor in erecting their crushing machine. Seven parties have commenced on the north end of German Terrace, and areputting in tunnels. Walker and party's claim has much improved, and is giving a very fair yield. Skipper and party, besides two other claims, are short of water, and have their wash dirt paddocked, waiting for rain
" At Giles' Terrace there are now eight claims on gold. Dollar aud party struck gold on Friday. Their claim is situated next to Nichols and party. Davis and party, have a very rich class of washdirt, and are washing for the past few days. Evans and party, have commenced washing and have brought in water.
Perry and party are hampered considerably by the injunction, they state where eight men could work before, only half that number can now work.
Gridley and party have reached wash dirt, at present it is thin, but improve as they get in. Williamson and party are washing, and have a fair class of wash dirt.
S : mon and party's claim at Deadman's Creek Terrace, is turning oui better than was at first anticipated, their wash dirt is of the same description as that of Perry and party oli Giles Terrace.
M'Clusky aud party who are at work within three miles of the Woimanga roa Quartz reef, put in a tunnel of 300 feet in length, and then sunk a shaft where there came on some scaly sjold of the same description as that of Poverty Terrace, and up the Buller. fhcy now find that they have made their tunnel 16 feet too high, and have commenced a now tunnel.
Mee and party who are on the Pair Downs, have a fine kind of gold, the sune as that found on the Caledonian.
Ware and party's wash dirt is improving;, and doubtless when they get in further will be much better. It is evident that there are severa' seams of gold, which run in a line with the rans;e, as far as the Waimangaroa, the gold that M'Cluskey and party have come on, is the same description as that of Poverty Terrace where the lead was lost and it is clear that there are several distinct runs of gold in this line of country, which doubtless will be all opened in a little time, when we may hope to have one continuity of working from the Caledonian to the Nai-k----awa.
At Ballarat Terrace, Smith and party have five feet of wash dirt in their ground, and it is of a highly remunerative class.
Goodall and party whose claim adjoins that of Smith and party have also five feet of wash dirt of the same character.
At the Caledonian there is nothing now in mining affairs to report. The requisition for a post-office has heen very nuiner' usly signed, and the residents are anxious to have two mails in each week.
The portions of the Caledonian track which required gravelling have been nearly finished, and when completed, the road will be in a very good state as far as the other side of Poverty Terrace.
There was a rumour of some new ground having been opened in a northeasterly direction, yesterday, but I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the statement.
