The p.s. Charles Edward, Captain Palmer arrived at Onehunga forty eight hours after she left Westport, although going twelve hours out of that time quite slow, her speed would enable her to make the run in less than thirty six hours. She left Onehunga on Friday evening at five o'clock, and arrived in Nelson on Suuday morning at 7 o'clock. She experienced very strong south east winds both ways, and left Nelson on "Wednesday at twenty minutes past four p.m. ; arrived off the bar at noon yesterday, and took her place at Powell's wharf at one o'clock. She brings a general cargo both for Westport and Greymouth,
