The s.s., John Penn, Captain Carey, left Nelson on Thursday at half-past one o'clock p.m.; called at Motueka, where she remained two hours and a half and shipped 23 tons or cargo, and arrived off the Buller bar at one o'clock on Friday, and came up to the wharf •at five p.m. She bad fine weather throughout her voyage down, and is very heavily laden. She brings 44 head of cattle in fine order, 100 sheep, besides a large general cargo, and a number of passengers. She sighted the p.s. Ne'son three miles astern oft"the Spit, and although very heavily loaded with cattle and cargo, beat her in a fan: run down by two hours and fifteen minutes, fully maintaining her character as the fastest boat trading on the coast. The p.s. Lyttelton, Captain Scott, went ashore at the Grey on Thursday evening, but wai expected to be off by Friday morning's tide. From another source, we hea.rd that the "Dispatch" was also ashore at the Grey. The schooner, Leonidas, from Melbourne, is outside Greymouth, with a general cargo on board. The schooner, Mary Cumming, from Melbourne, is outside Hokitika, with a general cargo.
