The Church of England choir, assisted by other amateurs will give a concert tomorrow (Thursday) evening, in the drill room, Gladstone street, the object being to raise funds for the purchase of the harmonium now used by that body in conducting their religious services. Irrespective of the object in view, we ca*i vouch for the fact that both in the choir itself, and amongst those who are kindly aiding in the good work, there are musicians of acknowledged ability, and simply as a matter of entertainment, the lovers of music will have every rcasoi to be satisfied with the programme that will be presented on the occasion. We feel assured that enough, and to spare will thus readily and pleasantly be gathered for the end sought, as also that those who attend will enjoy a musical treat of no ordinary character. As we have elsewhere stated our report of the enquiry is a mere skeleton, though full notes have been taken and can be produced if necessary. The Commissioners we should have said will sit to-day at Addison's Flat. On Saturday the 18th inst. the Customs boats crew, Lyttelton acting upon certaiu information received, boarded the cutter Lapwing, bound for the Fiji Islands, and seized a case containing 18 rifles, belonging to one of the passengers bound to the Islands, and which should have been landed at Lyttelton.
