Mr. Lightband has resigned his duties to Mr Broad, R.M., and has altogether ceased to act as Warden. It is stated that ho is to receive six months' salary, as compensation for the suddenness of the change. In consequence of Mr Broad now presiding in both courts, an alteration has been made in the days of sitting. In future K..M. aud Warden's Courts will be held here on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays ; Wednesdays and Saturdays being the days reserved for the business at Brighton. The Church of England committee met on Wednesday evening, and considered the tenders sent in for the erection of a church and parsonage. There were eleven in all, ranging from £404 ISs to £SBO. That of Stainer and King was accepted conditionally, on an agreement being made as to the time in which the buildings were to be completed, and proper sureties being given. Mr li. P. Bain was appointed as inspector of works. In view of the expenses about to be incurred, Mr A. B. Bain suggested the propriety of getting up a Gift Auction, a suggestion which met the approval of the committee, and it was resolved on a motion by Mr (rasquoine, seconded by Mr Jenkins—- " That a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Broad, Bain, Jones, and M'Coy, be appointed to take the necessary steps." At the request of Mr Broad, Mr Allen's name was substituted for his own. The committee then adjourned to Thursday in next week, at 8 o'clock.. A meeting of the Hospital Committee was held on Tlrarsday evening, when most of the members were present A satisfactory report of the condition of the hospital, was given by the Visiting Committee, who stated there were 7 patients in the ward and none of them serious cases. Tenders were opened for the construction of the lean-to decided on at last meeting, to serve the purpose of a dispensary and bath-room. The tender of Mr Luscombe was accepted the amount being £l6, and it was arranged that Mr Masters .and Mr Neale should superintend the building, have removed the present watertank and cause the required alteration in the spouting &c. to be made. A letter was read from the Charleston Histironic Club offering to give a benefit. The letter was referred to Mr Dwan, Mr Kennedy, and Mr Bain, to be agreed to, provided those gentlemen was satisfied with the arrangements proposed. A letter was also read from Mr Lomerille, the owner of a garden situated in the neighbourhood of the hospital, asking permission to use the hospital road, and make a track through a portion of the reserve granted conditionally on no objection being discovered by the next visiting committee. The honorary Secretary was requested to make application to the Grovernment for a subsidy, in accordance with -.the amount subscribed by the public up to the 30th June. In accepting the resignation of Mr Lightband, as chairman, a cordial vote of thanks was passed to him for his services, on the motion of Mr Alexander, who passed a high tribute of praise to the retiring chairman, for his zealous attention to the interests of the institution. Mr W. J. Moore has, we understand, received a communication from the Bishop of Nelson, which holds out a hope of some small monetary aid being extended to Mr Moore's school from the Education fund. Whether such will be the case or not is uncertain, but Mr Moore announces his readiness to admit into his establishment, free of charge, any pupils whose parents are not in a position to pay for their schooling.
